LUMS ADMISSION TESTS PREPRATION

About LUMS
The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is a national university, established by sponsors belonging to the country’s leading private and public sector corporations. The University has built a credible reputation and has expanded rapidly since its establishment. It has three schools: Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and School of Science and Engineering (SSE).

Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB)
The Business School was the first school established at the Lahore University of Management Sciences in 1986. It offers a two-year MBA, and a two-year Executive MBA, in addition to a PhD in Management. It also provides executive development education through its Executive Administrator Development Center (EDC). At the Bachelors level, the SDSB offers a BSc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance - a four-year program.

School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS)

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences was formed on July 1, 2006. It comprises three departments: Economics, Law and Policy, and Social Sciences. These departments were previously part of the School of Arts and Sciences which has now given way to two new schools: the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), and the School of Science and Engineering (SSE).
SHSS offers a four-year BSc (Honors) degree, a five-year degree in Law and Policy (BA-LLB) and a one-year MSc degree in Economics. Majors in Economics and Social Sciences are offered by the SHSS. From the academic year 2006 – 2007 two new majors have been introduced, one in Economics and Mathematics by the Economics department and the Mathematics department jointly, and the other in Politics and Economics by the Social Sciences department and the Economics department jointly.

School of Science and Engineering (SSE)
The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) started in Fall 2008 with new undergraduate programs in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering/Operations Research following within four years by graduate programs in each discipline. In September 2008 SSE also inherited the existing mathematics and computer science/engineering undergraduate and graduate programs at LUMS.

BSc / BA-LLB Admissions

Admission to the SDSB, SHSS and SSE is on the basis of the LCAT. The LCAT is a three-hour test based on SAT I, and consists primarily of multiple-choice questions, that measure verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities. The test has two components: LCAT-I and LCAT-II.
The LCAT-I is a one-hour multiple-choice test that measures basic verbal and mathematical abilities. All students applying to LUMS (SSE/SDSB/SHSS) are required to take the LCAT-I.
The LCAT-II is a two-hour test probing verbal and mathematical abilities further. Students applying to the SDSB/SHSS are required to take both the LCAT-I and LCAT-II while students exclusively applying to the SSE are required to take the LCAT-I only (in addition to the SSE admission test).
All applicants residing in Pakistan are required to take the LCAT. Exemptions are available for the following students:
• Foreign nationals
• Overseas Pakistani nationals
• Applicants residing in Pakistan having more than 2100 score in the new SAT I and with one of the following academic qualifications:
o O' Levels with 6 A grades
o Matric with 80% marks and FA (1st year/ final year) with 70% marks /FSc (1st year/ final year)with 75% marks
o American High School Diploma (at least 90%)
If you want to prepare for the SAT exam, please click here for more information.
The SSE Test will consist entirely of multiple-choice questions and will be divided into six sections, of which Basic Mathematics and English will be compulsory. The remaining sections will examine your knowledge in Advanced Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

MBA Admissions

For admission to the MBA program, a student must appear in the GMAT or the LMAT (LUMS’ version of the GMAT). Students are prepared on a regular basis for both these tests, and many of our students have gained admission to LUMS. Preparation includes interview preparation. For more information on our GMAT program, please click here.

MS Admissions

For admission to the MS program, a student must appear on the GRE or the LGAT (LUMS’ version of the GRE). Students may join our regular GRE program or may choose to join the LGAT preparation classes. For more information on our GRE program, please click here.

Success

We have the widest experience in preparing students for the LUMS tests including the LBAT, LMAT/GMAT, LGAT/GRE and SAT I & II. On an average our students are able to improve their SAT Scores by 400 points, GMAT Scores by 150 points and GRE Scores by 300 points.

Prepare Yourself for LMAT

LMAT is offered as an alternative to GMAT. Applicants who for some reason cannot take GMAT have the option to take the LUMS Management Admission Test (LMAT). For the coming year LMAT will be administered simultaneously in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

LMAT measures mathematical and analytical abilities, as well as proficiency in English language. Questions are designed to explore knowledge and skills acquired over a period of time. The test makes it possible to compare candidates with different backgrounds.
